2. Local Files Opened From Your Own Device
When a player opens a local ROM or game file using ROMConsole, the file is selected from that player’s own device.
For local play, the file is read locally by the player’s browser for the purpose of running the player experience. The locally selected file is not uploaded to the ROMConsole server, is not stored on the ROMConsole server, is not streamed from the ROMConsole server, is not cached on the ROMConsole server, and is not made available for other users to download.
ROMConsole may store account and gameplay-related records linked to a locally selected file. These records may include metadata such as a display title, original filename, file extension, file size, platform/console type, SHA-256 file hash, save data, autosave data, achievement progress, statistics, leaderboard records, and private library references.
These records are not ROM files. They are not copies of the game. They do not contain the game file itself. They are used to support platform features such as recognising the same local file again, matching compatible save data, preventing duplicate private library entries, restoring saves, tracking statistics, and supporting account features.
The SHA-256 hash or similar file identifier is used as a technical reference to recognise when the same local file is selected again. It cannot be used by ROMConsole to recreate, download, reverse-engineer, or distribute the original file.
3. User Responsibility for Local Files
You are responsible for ensuring that any file you open through ROMConsole is lawful for you to use.
You must only open files that you created, own, are licensed to use, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally permitted to use under applicable law.
You must not use ROMConsole to open, promote, upload, publish, distribute, share, or make available unlawful copies of copyrighted games, ROM files, BIOS files, software, artwork, music, logos, screenshots, characters, or other protected content.
ROMConsole cannot independently verify the legal status of every private local file selected from a user’s own device. Responsibility for a privately selected local file remains with the user who selected it.
4. Public Catalogue and Hosted Content
The site owner may enable a public catalogue or hosted game area.
Public catalogue content must only be used for lawful material, such as original games, homebrew games, public-domain games, open-source games, properly licensed games, or content where the site owner has explicit permission to publish or redistribute the material.

ROMConsole does not guarantee that every file, emulator core, browser, device, controller, save state, cheat code, achievement, leaderboard record, or game session will work perfectly.
7. Rewards, Items, Collectibles, and Trading
ROMConsole may include rewards, virtual items, collectibles, achievements, points, unlocks, trading features, or similar account-based systems.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, these features are for entertainment and account progression only. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and do not represent property, investment, currency, gambling winnings, or financial value.
